- Introduce the topic in the first sentence in the letter.
- Use only verifiable facts.
- State points clearly, yet succinctly.
- Have someone proofread your letter before sending it.
- Contact the publication to learn the best way submit your letter. Email, delivery in person, or USPS.
- Be certain to include your contact information. The paper might want to verify your identity.
- If you and a friend or family member share the same opinion, include their name with the letter – with their permission, of course.
